A Note on the Opening Cycle

Because the reading year begins in October, the opening cycle runs from October 1 through November 1. Members may begin reading as soon as the October 1 materials arrive. The two longer-work Sundays are designed as an opening discussion and a completed-book discussion; facilitators can divide each book at a natural midpoint for October 11.

Shared Clubhouse Hour

The common hour is not another formal program. It is the connective tissue of Literary Life: refreshments, introductions, informal conversation, and a short optional prompt that lets an idea travel from one circle to another. Keeping the full hour protects the sense that these are four distinct circles inside one larger literary community.
